Domestic violence call: 2 officers shot, suspect dead in Lorraine Village

FREDERIKSTED — Two Virgin Islands police officers were taken to the hospital and a suspect is dead after an exchange of gunfire on a domestic violence call in Grove Place on Sunday night.

Officers attempted to de-escalate a domestic disturbance shortly after 9:32 p.m. Sunday at Lorraine Village in Estate Grove Place, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The victim reported a male in her apartment armed with a gun and made threats to kill her, according to the VIPD.

Virgin Islands Police Department officers responded and there was an exchange of gunfire, police said.

“Two officers were injured, and the suspect was shot and killed during the exchange,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Ke’Jah Andreas, 32, was positively identified by a family member as the deceased, according to Chichester.

Each injured VIPD officer was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and treated for their injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
