Man arrested on warrant in connection with sexual assault of minor

FREDERIKSTED — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault charge in a three-year-old case, authorities said.

Jahamon Bruce was arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful sexual contact and child abuse, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The case began on December 9, 2021, when a female walked into the Wilbur H. Francis Command police station to report that Bruce sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female, according to the VIPD.

VIPD mug shot of Jahamon Bruce, 26, of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau where an investigation was launched, police said.

“Investigation into this matter revealed that the victim reported being touched inappropriately by Mr. Jahamon Bruce on multiple occasions,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

The case was filed with the Attorney General’s Office and an arrest warrant was signed in November of 2024 for Jahamon Bruce’s arrest, according to Chichester.

Bruce appeared at the Wilbur H. Francis Command police station on January 14, 2025, according to police.

At that time, Bruce was furnished with a certified copy of the arrest warrant and he was taken into official custody without incident, police said. He was then booked and processed.

Bail for Bruce was set at $1,000.00, when he posted, securing his release, according to police.
