KINGSHILL — Police are investigating reports of gunfire on Midland Road in Mon Bijou and Calquohoun late Tuesday afternoon.
The ShotSpotter detection system notified emergency personnel that 16 rounds were fired in the Mon Bijou area at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
ShotSpotter also detected five more rounds fired in the Calqouhoun area at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday, according to the VIPD.
Several concerned citizens reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center that a car was firing shots at another moving vehicle while traveling west on Midland Road in the area of Calqouhoun, police said.
The vehicle that was fired upon lost control of his car and collided into a residence wall, according to police.
“As a result, one female occupant was grazed on her left leg by a bullet and was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs),” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said. “The other occupants of the vehicle, two adults and two young minors, were not injured during the discharging of shots or the vehicle accident.”
The driver of the vehicle, Callistus Ettiene, was placed under arrest by the Superior Court Probation office personnel for a probation violation, according to Chichester.
This case remains under active investigation.
