FREDERIKSTED — A crash between a large SUV and a motorcycle has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old St. Croix man on Friday night, authorities said.

Jaden Stubbs, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the hospital, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Police were called to the scene after 8:50 p.m. Friday, when the 911 dispatchers reported “a two-vehicle collision” that occurred on Queen Mary Highway (Route 70) in the vicinity of The Market STX in Estate Plessen, Frederiksted western entrance-exit, according to the VIPD.

The responding Traffic Investigation Bureau officers were told that the operator of the dirt bike was taken via ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical treatment, police said.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Chevy Tahoe slowed and began making a right turn into the entrance-exit of the Market STX when the dirt bike collided with the Tahoe,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

The operator of the dirt bike was operating the bike without a helmet, Chichester said.

Additionally the bike was not registered or insured, she said.

The attending physician at the Juan F. Luis Hospital pronounced the bike operator deceased
due to the injuries sustained in the accident, according to police.

A family member positively identified Stubbs as the deceased, police said.

This case remains open and under investigation by the Virgin Island Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
