Responding officers contacted the victim, an adult female, who was found to have sustained serious head injuries consistent with being struck by a blunt object, police said.

The investigation was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Preliminary findings revealed that the victim was seated in her vehicle on Company Street in Christiansted, speaking with several individuals, when the suspect, Michael Boyce, approached and engaged her in an argument, according to police.

During the altercation, Boyce allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head and body with a hammer, police said.

The victim fell to the ground, at which point Boyce continued his assault until an acquaintance intervened and pulled him away, according to police.

An arrest warrant for Michael Boyce was issued by a Superior Court Judge on October 17, 2025,
and he was apprehended later that same afternoon, police said.

Boyce was transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station, where he declined to provide a statement. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to police.

Boyce was booked and processed at the Police Administrative Building in Estate Mars Hill.

The suspect was unable to post bail. He was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Estate Golden Grove.
