Armed robbery at The Palms Hotel under scrutiny

CHRISTIANSTED — Police are investigating an armed robbery attempt that occurred at a hotel on St. Croix nearly one week ago, authorities said today.

On November 7, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., units were dispatched to The Palms at Pelican Cove, Christiansted in reference to an attempted robbery, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Upon arrival contact was made with the victims, who stated that while parking their rental vehicle near their hotel room building, two males approached them with firearms demanding their car key, according to the VIPD.

“One of the victims stated that the two suspects got into the rental vehicle and noticed that it was equipped with a GPS tracking monitor, so the suspects immediately came out of the rental and fled with the rental vehicle key in a white Toyota Venza bearing license plate CIM-586 with possibly two other suspects,” police wrote in a prepared statement released today.

“The victim stated that she could not fully describe the suspects because they wore masks and dark clothing but she described one of the suspects as a tall dark skin male, possibly with dreadlock and described the firearm as a black handgun,” according to the police statement.

The Virgin Islands Police Department urges anyone with information regarding this crime to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
