Man found dead in St. John, police report

CRUZ BAY — The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating after a man was found fatally shot on the ground in St. John Wednesday night.

Around 9:56 a.m., officers responded to a call about “a male lying motionless on the ground, in the area of Concordia, St. John, according to the VIPD.

Patrol officers from the Leander Jurgen Command traveled to the area and located an unresponsive male who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the gunshot wound may have been self-inflicted,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene concluded that the male did not have any vital
signs, according to Chichester.

“The identification of the male is being withheld pending notification of next of kin,” she said.
