Search of suspect’s home turns up ammunition, cops say

FREDERIKSTED — The legal search of a suspect’s home turned up ammunition for a gun, authorities said.

Kaden Durand, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The charge stems from a search of Durand’s residence as part of an ongoing investigation at 5:23 a.m. today, according to the VIPD.

“During the execution of the search warrant, ammunition was found inside the house, and. Durand admitted that the ammunition was his,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Because the suspect does not have a license to possess ammunition or a firearm in the territory of the Virgin Islands, Durand was detained, according to Chichester.

Durand was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was taken into official custody, booked and processed.

His bail was set at $5,500.00; he was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing on November 20, 2025, at the Superior Court.
