Man found dead in Cottage junkyard of ‘head injury’ Tuesday morning

FREDERIKSTED — Police are investigating the death of an unnamed man found with a “head injury” in Estate Cottage on St. Croix Tuesday morning.

A concerned citizen reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center of a “man down” at a junkyard located in Estate Cottage, Christiansted, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at approximately 8:19 a.m. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) were dispatched to the scene, according to the VIPD.

“Upon their arrival, the male was pronounced dead,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said. “Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives were present at the scene where the lifeless body of the male was observed with an injury to his head.”

At this time, detectives are still conducting an investigation and are awaiting a next of kin to provide positive identification of the male, police said.
