FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was arrested for allegedly forcing his way into his girlfriend’s apartment in Grove Place and assaulting her, causing bruises to her head.
Malachi Thompson, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
On Monday, January 5, 2026, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Patrol Officers were dispatched by the VITEMA 911 Emergency Call Center to Lorraine Village in reference to a Disturbance of the Peace Domestic Violence in progress, according to the VIPD.

The victim reported that Malachi Thompson came to her apartment drunk and when she opened the door, he barged into her apartment and assaulted her with his hands causing bruises to her head, police said.
Shortly thereafter, she was able to call 911 and ask for police assistance.
As responding officers arrived at Lorraine Village, the suspect was spotted exiting the apartment and subsequently captured and detained, according to police.
“The victim sustained visible injuries, which were observed on her head,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.
Thompson was taken into official custody, booked and processed.
The suspect was not offered bail in keeping with the territory’s domestic violence laws.
Thompson was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional
Facility in Estate Golden Grove.
He is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Estate Kingshill tomorrow.
