CRIME NEWS: ST. CROIX MAN FACES WEAPONS ASSAULT CHARGE

FREDERIKSTED — A quiet morning at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands – St. Croix district saw only one defendant on the criminal calendar today.

Kent Navarro Fernand appeared before the Honorable Judge Venetia Harvey Velazquez in Courtroom CR-203 to face charges related to an alleged assault with a deadly weapon. Fernand is charged under 14 V.I.C. 297(a)(2), which classifies the incident as Assault in the Third Degree.

The Office of the Territorial Public Defender has been assigned to represent Fernand, while the Virgin Islands Department of Justice—Office of the Attorney General—is prosecuting the case.

As of this morning, Fernand remains in custody pending the outcome of his advice of rights hearing.
