Elevated fire risk for Puerto Rico today!

SAN JUAN — There is a moderate risk of rip currents for most beaches across the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tonight, the National Weather Service said today.

“Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone,” the NWS said on X.

Meanwhile, breezy winds and dry land present an “elevated fire danger risk” today, according to the NWS.

Dry soil and available fuels will help fires spread, the NWS added.

“Secure loose items, be cautious of fire spread, grab your umbrella, and stay alert!” it said.

Additionally, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Offshore Atlantic waters through at least 6:00 a.m. AST Sunday.
