KEY LARGO — Fishermen in the Florida Keys found a submerged jar containing bones and other items early Friday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The anglers found the jar around 3:45 a.m. near mile marker 106 in Key Largo, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said some of the bones appeared to be from an animal, “while others did not.”
The Monroe County Medical Examiner is looking at the bones to determine if there are any human remains. The jar also contained railroad spikes and horseshoes, Linhardt said.
The size of the jar and what it was made of was not immediately available.
