CHRISTIANSTED — Due to severe weather conditions from the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl, all government offices and summer schools throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands are now closed.

All non-essential government employees across the territory have been instructed to remain home on Monday, July 9, 2018.

First responders and employees who work on the territory’s infrastructure at the Department of Public Works, Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority, Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority and the Department of Health must report for and remain on duty.

All residents are encouraged to remain indoors, operate vehicles only if absolutely necessary, and continue to monitor the weather.

The government of the Virgin Islands said it will continue to monitor weather conditions and update the community accordingly.
