VIPD: St. Croix’s Raymond Richards Dies Within Hours Of Being Shot Multiple Times

SHOT DEAD: Raymond Richards was killed by masked gunmen on St. Croix on Tuesday.

FREDERIKSTED — Police said a St. Croix man who was shot multiple times a day ago has been identified as being Raymond Richards.

Richards, 29, was shot repeatedly and ultimately fatally wounded in a shooting behind a popular Estate Plessen Service Station.

The Virgin Islands Police Department reported at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday that Richards Jr. had died from his wounds at Consumer Gas Service Station in Estate Plessen.

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at about 7:49 p.m., 911 received a call of requesting emergency assistance for a shooting victim in the rear of the Consumer Gas Station in Frederiksted.

When police arrived on the scene they found a black male individual with multiple gunshot wounds to the body lying on the ground in the rear of the service station.

The injured man was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and was immediately taken into surgery and remains in critical condition, according to the VIPD.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau is actively working on leads and it continues to ask the community for information that might lead to an arrest.
