CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man was stabbed as he was leaving a downtown nightclub after a heated argument.
The unnamed man was attacked with a knife before 2 a.m. on Sunday after several men accosted him in the rest room of the nightclub, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Apparently, the man was attacked earlier by several people inside the bathroom of the nightclub and later as he left the establishment, one of his assailants stabbed him in the chest,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
Police did not identify what nightclub the incident happened at, but said that the man who was attacked was of “Middle Eastern descent,” according to Dratte.
The stabbing victim went by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.
Police sources said that authorities have a person of interest in the incident and that an arrest is imminent.
Police urged anyone with information to call 911, the VIPD on St. Croix at 340-778-2211 or the anonymous tip line Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
