Gov. Bryan Names Ivan Udell As Head of Virgin Islands National Guard

CHRISTIANSTED — Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. said that Colonel Ivan Udell will be the Acting Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands National Guard and retired Lieutenant Colonel Elwyn Browne his Chief of Staff.

Col. Udell currently serves as the deputy chief of staff for operations and plans at the VING and will serve as the Acting Adjutant General until Adjutant General Nominee Kodjo Knox-Limbacker completes his required retirement process from Federal Active Duty as mandated by law.

The announcement came Friday as Gen. Debra Howell leaves as the Territorial Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands National Guard.

“I am grateful to Col. Udell and Ltc. (Ret.) Browne for answering the call to serve and thank them for their continued service to our Virgin Islands National Guard, our community and their service to our nation,” Bryan said. “I also thank Gen. Howell for her service to the people of the Virgin Islands as the Territorial Adjutant General and wish her well in her future endeavors.”
