VIPD: St. Thomas’ Patrick Webster Kidnapped Mother, Drove Her To The Bank … Demanded Money From Her

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas woman who once threatened his mother with a wine bottle allegedly kidnapped her and took her to a local bank to try to force her to withdraw money for him.

Patrick Webster, 31, of Charlotte Amalie, was arrested and charged with kidnapping for extortion-domestic violence, false imprisonment-domestic violence, attempted extortion and disturbing the peace, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Police said a 61-year-old female reported that Webster “tried to extort money from her by forcing her into her vehicle and driving her to the bank so that she could withdraw her money to give to him.”

“She explained that she went with Webster because she feared he would harm her if she did not do as he said,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “She further stated he has assaulted her in the past and was arrested for that incident as well.”

Webster was apprehended in the vicinity of Banco Popular located at Fort Mylner, according to Dratte.

No bail was set as per the domestic statute. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections Detention Center.

Police said no mug shot could be taken because “Patrick Webster refused to cooperate with the booking procedure.”

According to Superior Court records, on May 4, 2011 at 1 a.m. Webster grabbed his mother by the throat and dress and dragged her into her bedroom. He then demanded the keys to her vehicle and began throwing her down on the mattress repeatedly. He eventually stood over her with a wine bottle — still demanding the car keys.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit.
