CHARLOTTE AMALIE — An Ohio native was given a half year in prison for being a sex offender in the territory, authorities said.
Jeffrey Cole, 57, of Colombus, Ohio, was sentenced Tuesday on a conviction for failing to register as a sex offender, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert said.
U.S. District Court Judge Curtis Gomez sentenced Cole to six months incarceration, three years of supervised release and a Special Assessment of $100.
Gomez also ordered Cole to perform 100 hours of community service. According to court records, Cole was convicted for voyeurism in the State of Ohio in 2009.
He moved to the Virgin Islands in 2018, and failed to register here.
This case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service (USMS).
It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Everard E. Potter.
