VIPD: Colorado Man Takes Two Advil At Night In St. John And Dies In The Morning

CRUZ BAY – The Virgin Islands Police Department was notified of an unresponsive Caucasian male at a villa in the Catherineberg area on St. John at about 9:37 p.m. on Sunday. The unresponsive male was identified as Albert O’Neill, 81 of Colorado.

Upon arrival, VIPD officers on the scene contacted O’Neill’s spouse, Evelyn O’Neill who provided officers with details of the events. She stated that the couple arrived from Colorado earlier that day and traveled to their Villa on St. John. She stated that O’Neill complained of feeling pain in his neck upon arrival at the villa. He subsequently took two Advil pain relieving pills and went to sleep at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Further details revealed that at approximately 6:45 p.m. O’Neill’s wife went in the room to check on O’Neill and found him unresponsive. She stated that her husband was not under any other medications. Officers observed to signs of foul play. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene was able to confirm that O’Neill displayed no vital signs. An autopsy will be performed to determine Albert O’Neill’s cause of death.

VIPD’s Forensics Unit and members of the Criminal Investigative Bureau were notified and traveled to the scene to conduct further investigation.
