VIPD: California Woman Detained By Feds At Airport On Outstanding Warrant

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A California resident was detained by federal officers for an outstanding warrant at the St. Thomas airport on Friday, authorities said.

Raquel Antoinette Huff, 24, of Oakland, was flagged by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) about 3:45 p.m. Friday at the Cyril E. King Airport for having an active warrant, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Huff was detained by VIPD detectives and transported to the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex, where they confirmed that the State of Minnesota had a warrant for her arrest for failing to report to probation as directed, according to the VIPD.

“Officials in Minnesota stated that they will extradite Huff and requested that she not be offered bail,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Huff was then placed under arrest and turned over to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an extradition hearing, Derima said.
