Body Of 48-Year-Old Georgia Snorkler Found At Cabrita Point This Weekend: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A Georgia man who went missing Thursday afternoon was found early the next day on the shoreline at Cabrita Point on the far eastern end of St. Thomas, authorities said.

Robert James Holliday Jr.’s girlfriend reported him missing to the 911 Emergency Call Center at 7:58 p.m. Thursday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said. She told police that Holliday he had gone snorkeling at Cabrita Point about 1 p.m. Thursday and not returned.

VIPD officers, St. Thomas Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard all searched the area without results Thursday night, according to VIPD spokesman Toby Derima.

Holliday, 48, of Savannah, Ga. was found on the shoreline still in snorkeling gear at 6 a.m. Friday, according to Derima. The cause of death is still unknown pending an autopsy.
