VIPD Joint Task Force Captures California Attempted Murder Suspect In St. Croix

FREDERIKSTED — The DEA-(Drug Enforcement Agency) and HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) received a request from the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Sacramento, California, for assistance in locating a wanted fugitive identified as Leslie Christopher Rogers. 

This wanted fugitive was suspected to be on the Island of St. Croix.

Rogers, 30, was wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, the Virgin Islands Police Department said. On April 4, 2022, an arrest warrant was issued by the Sacramento Superior and Municipal Court with full extradition, in the County of Sacramento, California. 

Wanted for attempted murder fugitive Leslie Christopher Rogers, 30, is detained by U.S. Marshals Service agents on St. Croix.

VIPD Detectives from the DEA HIDTA Task Force, VIPD-RIT(Rapid Intervention Team), VIPD-SOB, (Special Operation Bureau),VIPD-Marine Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service were able to identify and locate Rogers at #136 Estate Diamond, Frederiksted.

 On Tuesday at 5:55 p.m., VIPD Officers and U.S. Marshal Service executed the arrest warrant on Rogers at #136 Diamond, Frederiksted without any incident. No bail was set as per the pending arrest warrant. Rogers was booked and remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his initial court appearance. 

“I’m glad to see that we were able to extend a helping hand to our counterparts on the mainland,” St. Croix Police Chief Sean Santos said. “This joint operation shows that law enforcement locally, federally and throughout the mainland do work together and it doesn’t matter where you are, we will work together to bring wanted fugitives to justice.”
