FREDERIKSTED — A young bearded dead man who police investigators could not identify has been identified by his mother on St. Croix.

Robert Bascus, 23, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in Estate Hogensborg about 12:42 p.m. Thursday.

Police had asked for the public’s help in identifying Bascus by giving a description of how he looked dead.

All of the eight murders this year — including one vehicular homicide — have happened on St. Croix.
