CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Governor Kenneth Mapp offered his Father’s Day tribute to the thousands of Virgin Islands men who play active and supportive roles in the upbringing of our children.

“As I participate in graduation ceremonies across the territory during this period, it is always a joy to witness proud fathers,” Mapp said. “The men of our community must continue to lead by example to combat the negative forces challenging our young people.”

Mapp also encouraged all Virgin Islands men of goodwill to take up positive roles in their children’s lives.

“They need you now, more than ever in their scholastic, spiritual and educational development,” the governor said.

Governor Mapp paid tribute to the fortitude, strength, bravery and resilience of Virgin Islands fathers and father figures who are working to rebuild our islands despite the difficult and challenging months after the September storms.

“With God’s help, we shall go forward with our recovery and rebuilding so that history will record that we of this generation did our part to make the Virgin Islands a better place to live,” he said. “I would also like to wish a special Happy Father’s Day to the many men who remain assisting us here in the territory and are away from their families on this occasion. We thank you for your efforts.”
