One Teen Dies, Five Injured In Accident On Melvin Evans Highway in Frederiksted

FREDERIKSTED — A two-car accident on the Melvin Evans Highway left one St. Croix man dead and five others injured.

Naeem Sealey, 19, was killed when the blue Nissan Altima he was driving collided with a brown Toyota Corolla near Paradise Road  about 8:21 p.m. on Sunday.

Four people in the Corolla were injured, including at least one person with a broken leg. One person besides Sealey was injured in the Altima.

A stoplight where the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 66 and Route 69 has not been working since Hurricane Maria in September 2017.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the maintenance of the lights on the Melvin Evans Highway.
