FREDERIKSTED — Police said they captured wanted man Asheem Gregory “Kartel” Charles at an undisclosed relative’s home last night.
Charles, 34, is accused of stabbing a man in Christiansted town on December 9, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau took Charles into custody about 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the VIPD.
He was arrested by the CIB and charged with first-degree assault and “among other charges,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
His bail was set at $75,000 by a Superior Court Magistrate. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an adviceof-rights hearing.
