St. Thomas Man Arrested After Breaking Girlfriend’s Collarbone In Assault: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas resident has been arrested after a heated argument allegedly led to a brutal domestic violence assault, authorities said.

Jason E. Raymond, 39, of Agnes Fancy, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with third-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The investigation revealed that on January 14, Raymond assaulted the victim after a disagreement,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said, adding that Raymond also allegedly threw hot food on the woman.

The unidentified woman was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment of a broken collarbone along with fresh bruises and swelling about the body, police said.

Raymond was not offered bail as per the Virgin Islands domestic violence laws.

He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
