Child Support Hearings, Pre-Trial Conferences Canceled Until Further Notice At PCSD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Attorney General Denise George reminds the general public that in light of COVID-19 (coronavirus), measures have been put in place to safeguard the public and VIDOJ employees from potential exposure.

The VIDOJ’s Paternity and Child Support Division (PCSD) has now implemented a protocol to promote social distancing while continuing to provide services to the public.

Facilities of Paternity and Child Support that will be closed to the public include offices located on the 2nd floor of Nisky Shopping Center, St. Thomas and #3018 Estate Orange Grove, St. Croix. However, in-person services will be provided to accept payments.

“Because the health and safety of our staff and customers are paramount, effective immediately, both PCSD offices in the territory are in the process of transitioning to providing limited in-person interactions and online options with regard to child support establishment, payment, and enforcement services,” PCSD Director Terrence D. Joseph said.

Services will be provided via telephone, fax, mail, and through the internet. Persons who wish to make payments will be allowed inside the offices until the drop box becomes available, at which time, only money orders and checks will be accepted.

“The Territorial Disbursement Unit and payment processing teams have a strong plan in place to ensure that payments continue to be processed and disbursed timely, therefore no delay in the processing of any child support payments received is anticipated, Director Joseph said.

Customers with scheduled court hearings will be contacted to discuss rescheduling options. Child Support Hearings and pre-trial conferences are suspended until further notice.
