6th COVID-19 Victim Lost Each Parent To Coronavirus On St. Croix (UPDATE)

CHRISTIANSTED — Two people have died from the novel coronavirus in the last three days in the territory, the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Health confirmed today.

The sixth person to die from COVID-19 in the territory was also on a ventilator at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.

His death was reported today and that he was the son of the man who died Saturday at the St. Croix hospital. The son’s age was not given.

The man who died May 12 is the son of the 67-year-old St. Croix woman who was the territory’s fourth COVID-19 victim.

The husband of the woman was the territory’s fifth COVID-19 victim. It is their son who died today.

VIDOH said in a text message released to the public at 2:27 p.m. today that it “is saddened to confirm the territory’s sixth death related to COVID-19.”

“No additional information is currently available pending notification of next of kin,” it said.

COVID-19 is an acronym for: severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
