CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man accused of choking a family member during a heated argument has been charged with assault, authorities said.
Micah Tyson, 21, of Estate Humbug was arrested about 5:53 p.m. Friday and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Tyson reportedly strangled a family member during a disagreement,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
As per the territory’s domestic violence statutes, Tyson was not offered bail pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
