Portion of Melvin Evans Highway Closed for Roadwork Between Williams Delight, West Airport Road

FREDERIKSTED — The Virgin Islands Police Department is notifying the motoring public that a portion of the Melvin Evans Highway, from the Williams Delight intersection eastbound to the West Airport Road intersection, will be closed for roadwork Tuesday, August 4 at 9 a.m. The roadwork is expected to continue through Friday.

During the road closure, both eastbound lanes of that portion of the highway will be closed, according to the VIPD. Eastbound traffic will be routed through Williams Delight on to Queen Mary Highway.

Motorists are asked to find alternate routes or leave at least 30 minutes earlier to get to your destination on time.

The VIPD regrets any inconvenience these road closures may cause. For more information, please contact the Traffic Investigation Bureau at (340) 778-2211.

In unrelated police news, the VIPD said that the Firearms Bureau Office in St. Thomas will be closed until further notice.

“The VIPD apologizes for any inconvenience,” it said.
