Castle Burke Man Nabbed With Illegal Gun And Marijuana: VIPD

KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man was arrested on illegal gun and drugs charges over the Labor Day holiday weekend, authorities said.

Ronald Lopez 36, of Castle Burke was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Saturday and charged with carrying a firearm openly or concealed and simple possession of a controlled substance, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Lopez was found with a firearm and marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop on the Melvin Evans Highway, near East Airport Road,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Bail for Lopez was set at $50,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
