CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested on domestic violence related charges after he allegedly tied up a woman and beat her, authorities said.

Kwanza George, 32, of Paul M. Pearson Gardens was arrested at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and charged with third-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The victim reported that on September 1, George assaulted her, causing injuries,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “George is alleged to have bound the victim, limiting her movement.”

Bail was not offered to George, as per the territory’s domestic violence laws

He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing
