Department of Health Confirms 20th COVID-19 Death Took Place On St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A Virgin Islands family has been grieving the loss of a loved one after the 20th death from COVID-19 was confirmed this weekend.

A 57-year-old man on St. Thomas was the victim, the Virgin Islands Department of Health said Sunday.

VIDOH provided no other details and none are forthcoming.

The news comes two weeks after the Health Department said that an 82-year-old man on St. Thomas was the 19th victim of the deadly novel coronavirus.

According to Health’s latest statistics, there are 68 active COVID-19 cases being tracked in the territory as of Saturday — 31 on St. Croix, 26 on St. Thomas and 11 on St. John.

The department says 1,209 people have recovered from the disease.
