Police Need Your Help To Find 2 Men Who ‘Fed’ Marijuana Smoke To A Cat, Causing Paralysis

FREDERIKSTED — Police need your help to find two men who force-fed marijuana smoke to a cat, inducing paralysis in the animal, authorities said.

The VIPD Animal Cruelty Investigator received a report on Sunday regarding a possible animal cruelty video that was posted to Facebook, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The video shows a male individual forcibly introducing what appears to be marijuana smoke to a cat, according to the VIPD.

The forced ingestion seemed to cause partial paralysis and instability to the cat. The video depicts a shirtless male individual wearing a gold pendant, light color jeans, and checkered black-and-white slippers. He has a light brown complexion and wears his hair in an afro.

A second individual is seen holding the cat during the incident. The individual has tattoos on his forearm.

The VIPD said it needs assistance from the public in identifying the individuals seen on the video, and where the act of animal cruelty might have been committed.

VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said police are actively searching for the cat to find out if it has recovered from the attack.

“Other than what we saw in the video, we have no other information,” Derima told the Virgin Islands Free Press this afternoon. “The Animal Cruelty Investigator is attempting to find the cat to see its condition.”

Everyone with information is urged to call 911, the Animal Cruelty Investigator at (340) 778-2211, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-8477.

“Remember, if you see something, say something,” he said.
