Democrat Donna Frett-Gregory Finishes In First Place In St. Thomas District After All Votes Are Counted

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The 2020 election was certified on Monday, the Virgin Islands Elections System said.

After the absentee and provisional ballots were counted, Senator Vialet maintained his election night top position on St. Croix, while Senator Frett-Gregory pulled ahead to become the top vote getter in the St. Thomas/St. John district.

On St. Thomas-St. John, Democrat Donna Frett-Gregory got a total of 4,855 votes, 1,992 came on election day, 2,231 came in early voting, some 597 were absentee votes and 35 were provisional.

Incumbent Janelle K. Sarauw placed second with 4,827 votes, followed in third place by newcomer Democrat Milton E. Potter with 4,481 votes. Fourth place went to Democrat Carla Joseph with 4,102 votes and she was followed in fifth place by Democratic incumbent Marvin A. Blyden with 4,065 votes. Sixth place is held by Alma Francis Heyliger with 4,017 votes and seventh place went to incumbent Dwayne M. DeGraff.

On St. Croix veteran incumbent Democrat Kurt Vialet maintained his first place finish with 4,852 votes followed in second place by Christiansted attorney Genevieve Whitaker with 3,898 votes. Third place went to former St. Croix police chief and Democrat Novelle E. Francis, Jr. with 3,799 votes while fourth place went to Democrat Javan E. James with 3,735 votes. Fifth place is held by freshman Franklin D. Johnson with 3,437 votes, sixth place went to newcomer Samuel “Sam” Carrion with 3,394 votes and seventh place is held by veteran Democratic senator Kenneth “Kenny” Gittens with 3,322 votes.
