Eastern Cemetery Roadway And Parking Construction Project Making Progress Past The Graves

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Eastern Cemetery roadway and parking construction project, which began in September, continues to make progress and should be completed soon.

In an update from the Department of Public Works today, DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said the project is 85 percent finished and “expected to be completed ahead of schedule.”

Work began on the Eastern Cemetery site on September 23 and wasn’t expected to be finished until December 21.

“The objective of the project is to extend the existing asphalt roadway, sidewalk and parking by 400 feet,” Exius said. “No closures or impacts to vehicular traffic are anticipated during construction.”

The estimated cost of the project is $399,712.00, according to Public Works.
