Veterans Day Motorcades On St. Croix And St. Thomas Cancelled Due To Rainy Conditions

CHRISTIANSTED — Due to the projection of inclement weather across the territory, Veterans Day motorcades planned for St. Croix and St. Thomas tomorrow are cancelled, Government House said.

Significant rain accumulation started to affect the territory in the early evening hours of Monday November 9. As of early Tuesday afternoon, showers were still present across the territory.

In a statement released by Virgin Island Territorial Emergency
Agency (VITEMA): “Heavy rainfall potential continues until midday Thursday.”

The cancellation of these motorcades will not interrupt the intent of Governor Albert Bryan, Lt. Governor Tregenza Roach, and the Office of Veterans Affairs to honor our designated Veterans of the Virgin Islands this year, Government House said.

At a later identified date, all three Veterans will be invited to
Government House for a more personal recognition of their service to country.

The following Virgin Islanders, were selected as honorees for their selfless service in their respective districts this year:

Oscar R. James Sr. – St. John
Romeo A. Malone – St. Thomas
Abraham Hewitt – St. Croix
