64-Year-Old Man Drowns At Brewer’s Bay Beach In St. Thomas On Friday: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating a drowning incident that took place at a St. Thomas beach on Friday morning, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a call saying that a man was floating face down in the water at Brewer’s Bay Beach at 8:41 a.m. Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers traveled to the area and found the unresponsive male lying on the sand, and was advised that an individual had removed the man from the water,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Emergency Medical Technicians, who were on scene, concluded that the male did not have any vital signs, Derima said.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, he said. Next of kin identified the man as 64-year-old James Bachelor.

The investigation into this incident continues, police said.
