Bryan Congratulates Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory And Incoming Members of 34th Legislature

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Governor Albert Bryan issued the following statement congratulating Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory and the incoming members of the 34th Legislature, who took their Oath of Office on Monday at Emancipation Garden on St. Thomas before convening their first session to establish the Senate leadership.

“I want to thank and congratulate the members of the 34th Legislature for stepping up to offer themselves for service as an elected official, especially while we are facing the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Bryan said. “Despite the significant challenges, I am confident in the abilities of this body to carry out its mandate on behalf of the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“The Bryan-Roach Administration looks forward to working with Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory and all members of the 34th Legislature on a progressive agenda for the good of all Virgin Islanders, particularly the legislation that I had submitted to the 33rd Legislature, including the Cannabis Act, the sweeping Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Act and the merger of the V.I. Fire and EMS services,” he said.

“Through our mutual efforts, the Administration and the 34th Legislature can enhance the standard of living in our community by providing revenue to continue our efforts to stabilize the Government of the Virgin Islands and restore the people’s trust,” Bryan said.
