CANE BAY — Police are searching for a St Croix carjacking suspect who led officers on a high speed chase from Gallows Bay to Davis Bay on Saturday evening.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to a reported carjacking at Altona Lagoon at 6:19 p.m. Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The victim reported while sitting in his Ford F-150 truck near the Lagoon area, an armed male approached his vehicle,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “At gunpoint, the victim was ordered out of his vehicle, to which he complied. The suspect left the area in the stolen vehicle.”

Officers observed the stolen vehicle headed westbound and engaged in a pursuit to capture the suspect, according to Derima.

The suspect led officers on a chase to the Renaissance Carambola Beach Resort, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, headed north into the bushes. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect, still at-large, is described a tall, slim male with a dark complexion. He was wearing a red shirt, black pants, and face was covered with a scarf.
