Upper Love Landscaper Moves Indoors To Woman’s Bedroom, Kicking Down Door, Destroying ‘Items’: VIPD
KINGSHILL — A St. Croix landscaper has been accused of doing some “interior decorating” to include unneeded alterations to a working bedroom door and destroying some of a woman’s belongings inside the house.
Nigel J. Hazel, 40, of Upper Love was arrested at 7:31 p.m. Monday and charged with second-degree burglary-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“On February 20, at approximately 12 p.m., Hazel entered the female victim’s residence without her permission,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Upon entering her residence, Hazel kicked in the bedroom door and destroyed items inside the residence.”
Readers of the Virgin Islands Free Press tipped off the online newspaper that Hazel works as a landscaper on St. Croix.
“Maybe somebody was cutting his grass,” David Colon, Jr. said.

Hazel was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes. He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
