VIPD To Close Police Station On St. John Monday Due To ‘Occurrences’ Of COVID-19

CRUz BAY — The Virgin Islands Police Department is advising the community that there have been occurrences of COVID-19 at the Leander Jurgen Command located in St. John.

“Some employees may have been exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

The VIPD will temporarily close the Command on Monday to deep-clean and disinfect all affected offices, restrooms, and shared spaces, Derima said.

The affected employees are on quarantine, and will remain in that status until negative tests are obtained, he said.

If you are in need of police services during the Command closure, you are asked to call 911 or (340) 776-9110 so we can have officers dispatched to your location to take your report.

“The Department apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause and thank you for your understanding,” police said.
