‘War At The Pumps’ Leads To Better Gas Prices In The Territory, DLCA Says

CHRISTIANSTED — DLCA Commissioner Richard Evangelista said people buying gasoline in the territory should pay attention to prices. 

“In the last couple of weeks, there is clearly a price war at the pump,” Evangelista said. 

DLCA conducted a territory-wide fuel price survey on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John,. The fuel survey results and rack rates are included for comparative viewing and transparency.

On St. Croix, the retail fuel stations are competing against each other for the cheapest fuel.  The average price for regular fuel is $2.97 per gallon and for premium fuel is $3.04 per gallon.  However, the lowest price for self-service regular fuel is found at Delma Service Station and G Max Service Station for $2.699 per gallon.  The lowest price for self-service premium is found at Delma Service Station for $2.929 per gallon.  The lowest price for diesel is found at Delma Service Station for $2.829 per gallon.  

On St. Thomas, the average price for regular fuel is $3.46 per gallon and for premium fuel is $3.84 per gallon.  The lowest price for self-service regular is found at Puma Bovoni for $3.319 per gallon.  The lowest price for self-service premium is found at Puma Bovoni for $3.679 per gallon.  The lowest price for diesel is found at Puma Tutu for $3.629 per gallon.

On St. John, the average price for regular fuel is $3.67 per gallon and for premium fuel is $3.79 per gallon.  The lowest self-service price for fuel is found at Racetrack at $3.49 per gallon for regular and $3.59 per gallon for premium.  The lowest price for diesel is found at Racetrack for $3.87 per gallon.

DLCA also notifies the public of the latest rack rate prices issued by Gulf Oil at Lime Tree Bay Terminal effective April 5 – April 11, 2021. Rack rate prices have increased from the prior week. The new rack prices with the .14/gallon tax are, $2.5400 for regular, $2.6400 for premium, and diesel (ULSD) is at $2.300.
