St. Thomas Man Shot While Driving On Brookman Road This Morning

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was shot while driving along the main road connecting downtown to the main cruise ship port just before midnight.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Brookman Road at 11:49 p.m. Sunday to investigate an apparent shooting incident, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Security personnel in the area contacted police after discovering evidence of a shooting and blood,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

At 11:50 p.m. the Emergency Call Center received a call from the Schneider Regional Medical Center reporting a male gunshot victim who came in for treatment, according to the VIPD.

“The victim and a friend, while leaving the area, observed an unknown suspect driving a white vehicle alongside their vehicle when the suspect opened fire,” according to Derima.

The injured man’s condition is not known at present.
