2 Fugitives From Justice Arrested At St. Thomas Airport: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Two fugitives from justice were detained at the St. Thomas airport on unrelated matters on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Michael I. Montanez Jr., 24, of Deltona, Florida, was arrested at the Cyril E. King Airport at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said..

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents detained Montanez after it was discovered that he was wanted in the Florida on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, according to the VIPD. Bail for Montanez was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an extradition hearing.

And Tony C. Kimble Jr.,, 25, of Meridian, Mississippi was arrested at CEIKA at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, police said.

CBP agents at the St. Thomas airport held Kimble at after learning that he was wanted in Mississippi on a failure to appear warrant on a possession with intent to distribute charge, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. Kimble was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections without bail pending an extradition hearing.

All individuals listed as arrested or charged with a crime in this report are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
