FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was charged with attempted murder for his role in a 2019 Red Brick shooting in which one of four injured men became paralyzed, authorities said.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operation Bureau executed an arrest warrant and 29-year-old Mario Magras was arrested at 6:09 a.m. today at his Estate Diamond residence, VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.
“Mr. Magras was advised of his Miranda Rights and declined to give a statement,” according to Dratte
The 911 Emergency call Center dispatched units to David Hamilton Jackson Terrace where it was reported by a concerned citizen that approximately 50 shots were discharged at about 9:03 p.m. on September 6, 2019.
Upon police officers arrival at the scene they observed a large amount of spent casings in the area. As a result of the shooting four male individuals were shot and one of the men sustained serious injuries causing him to be paralyzed, according to the VIPD.
On January 26, 2022, Superior Court Judge Darryl D. Donahue issued an arrest warrant for Magras.
Bail for Magras was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was transported to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections (BOC).
Magras is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court tomorrow.
