CHRISTIANSTED — The Virgin Islands Department of Health has confirmed that the territory’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 108.
The dead person was an 88-year-old woman on St. Croix, according to the Health Department.
“Commissioner Encarnacion would like to share condolences from the entire Department of Health to the family of the deceased,” the department said on its website.
The territory’s 107th victim was an 84-year-old woman on St. Thomas, the island’s 58th fatality since the pandemic started, Health said.
The USVI’s 106th victim was a 78-year-old woman on St. Thomas, according to the department.
The 105th COVID-19 victim was an 89-year-old man on St. Croix.
The Health Department encourages the public to get vaccinated to help prevent serious illness and death from COVID-19. Anyone five years or older can get the vaccine.
