LAKELAND — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida apprehended Jonathan Rivera and N’zinger Makeda Williams at VIPD Criminal Investigations Bureau’s request at 5 p.m. Thursday after securing an arrest warrant charging them with first-degree murder, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“The case is in connection with the July 6, 2022 homicide of 28-year-old Jah-Marley Christopher,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte told the Virgin Islands Free Press.
The homicide occurred on the Williams Delight turf after Christopher and Rivera got into a verbal altercation and as a result Rivera ran down Christopher and shot him multiple times, according to Dratte.
Christopher later succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
The VIPD St. Croix District is charging Jonathan Rivera with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, first-degree reckless endangerment, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
N’zinger Williams is facing charges of first-degree murder and accessory after-the-fact, according to the VIPD.
Each suspect is being held without bail in Polk County jail until they can be extradited back to the territory.
